When I typed this in the spelling checker suggested “idiophones” should be “radiophones” or “Aristophanes.” I follow the Hornbostel-Sachs classification, as any sane person would. Isn’t “idiophone” a great word, though?

Bah! In the Hornbostel-Sachs classification, indirectly struck idiophones (112.1) also include the rainstick. Unless you think the two are interchangeable, you may as well follow the Stetson-Harrison classification.
Isn’t Stetson-Harrison used for classifying headgear?
